JISAO

Go to /home/disk/tao/data/mosaic/
and create a directory for the analyses. You could call this
directory "name" or whatever. If you have write permission
problems, write to David Warren and ask him to change the
permissions. The address (called Uiform Resource Locator (URL))
of your WWW page will be http://jisao.washington.edu/name/ .

Copy the "index.html" file from
/home/disk/tao/data/mosaic/analyses0500/
and modify it for your pictures and text. If you have write
permission problems, ask David Warren to change the write permission
on that directory and file. The language used
to specify WWW pages is called hypertext markup language (HTML)
and for simple WWW pages the HTML is pretty simple. There is
an HTML reference book on the bookshelf in the south computer room.

All pictures on the WWW are GIF (image) files and they are constructed
from PostScript files as follows.

"pstogif -out filename.gif filename.ps" (no quotes) produces the
GIF file.

"xv filename.gif" (no quotes) permits you to view, rotate,
shrink, crop (cut-up), and change the format of a image.
xv will display the image, click on the image by depressing
the right button of the mouse, and a menu will come up that is
pretty simple. Just try pressing buttons and see what happens.
You can change the colors in an image with xv, but I have never tried
it.

Give it a try. Making a simple WWW page is pretty simple.
