Indian Ocean SAT anomalies

This page contains area-average surface air temperature (SAT)
anomalies for the region 30N-30S, 46-100E (excluding the
Red Sea grid points).  Anomalies are with respect
to the period 1950-79.  Data for 1800-2002 are from the 
International Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set (COADS) and values for 2003 - August 2004 are from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction real-time marine data (not the NCEP / NCAR reanalaysis). An earlier version of this index was calculated from sea surface temperatures, and that version will not be updated.

I am providing the entire record of this time series. I'm not sure when the time series becomes becomes unreliable as you go farther back in time. The month to month jumpiness in the time series is noise.

The averaging region
The domain includes the western portion of Sumatra
